It’s been awhile. Did a short stint of barista work last year and let’s say it’s not exactly the best job in the world. After slogging many 55-hour work weeks and having my soul slowly sucked out of me, I had to go. This victory was the exact excuse to have myself holed up on an island after.
Planned a trip to Krabi, Thailand, with a pal for 5D4N which made it my 4th time in Krabi! I absolutely love that the town in Ao Nang Beach is pretty small which makes it really convenient to get around by foot.

Flew from Singapore; spent a good 45 minutes wait at immigration cause there were so few counters open and too many people! We experienced at least three flights of passengers during our wait.
Picked up our SIM cards ordered online from Klook and arranged for a ride with the staff to Ao Nang. Checked in to Ao Nang President Hotel (good location, really affordable rates, decent room) and spent the day orientating ourselves and booking activities to do for the next few days.

Time for the 4 Islands Tour!
A duration of about 6 hours, you’ll be brought on semi-snorkelling expedition to visit 4 islands – Koh Poda, Koh Gai, Koh Tub, Koh Mur and Phra Nang Cave beach.
longtail boat or speedboat (~SGD20/ ~SGD50 respectively).
I’d suggest taking the longtail boat unless you’ve got money to splurge and want a more luxurious experience on a speedboat (I’d rather stuff my face with lots of coconut ice cream with that extra money). The longtail makes for a more authentic experience and you get to enjoy the sights at a steady pace.
We booked the tour with our hotel for 900฿/ pax after ‘bargaining’ (500฿ + 400฿ marine park admission fee to be paid on the day itself).
The prices on the brochures state 800฿ but it can be brought down to 500฿. There are lots of operators around town selling the same activities/ packages and prices are more or less the same everywhere.
9 February 2017, Thursday
Another day out in the sun – a full day of Mangrove Kayaking!! Booked online on Klook for SGD20, lunch included!
We did the half day of kayaking at Ao Thalene Bay with lots of other tourists and for the second half of the kayaking we were supposed to do, they brought us to another location to explore and have lunch.
It was extremely hot by the time we were done with lunch and the kind hosts offered us an alternative to possibly getting burnt in the sun – to visit a local swimming hole which we happily went instead.
I’d suggest not to do the full day kayaking (don’t waste your money; eat more pad thais) unless you’re an outdoors enthusiast or you’d like to have crispy burnt skin complimentary of the scorching sun. Half day’s surprisingly enough to zap away most of your energy.
Headed back soon after and went to check-in to our new accommodation at Peace Laguna Resort & Spa! Booked the Private Cottage for two nights; the comfort and peace was what I really needed.
10 February 2017, Friday
Final full day before heading home. We chilled, made full use of our private space, and booked a trip to Krabi Town Night Market/ Walking Street which is only open on Fridays – Sundays.
For 200฿, transport is provided to and fro Krabi Town. This can be arranged at many stalls in Ao Nang. The driver will set a fixed time/ place for everyone to gather to bring everyone back to Ao Nang.
11 February 2017, Saturday
Always the part I dread the most – heading home. Arranged for transport to the airport at one of the stalls in town for 150฿/ person.
Krabi has and always will be my favorite short-holiday destination, until it gets way too touristy of course. It’s my quick fix of sun, coconut ice creams/ Magnums, and cheap-street-food-thrills.
As always, till then!
