Sunday’s the best in Chiang Mai.

Date: 10 May 2015, Sunday

Postcard, for the people who matter.

Looked up Triposo again for recommendations and walked to Angel’s Secrets Cafe. Once again, I am glad that I am not a street-idiot.

Was a little ambitious when I decided to order brown rice soup and veggie salad. I still managed to finish most of it! Didn’t want to waste food, money, and be disrespectful. Plus, my body needed the nutrients.

Porridge (they call it rice soup) and salad - nutrients galore!

Sat there for an hour odd before deciding to walk and find the Three Kings Monument. So the funny thing was I was trying to find the place, and I knew that I was near. I saw the side-view of a statue and saw only 2 men. So disregarded the fact that it was what I was looking for.

Continued walking down the road and into the Chiangmai Arts and Cultural Center (something like that). I’m not sure if I needed to pay. I entered through the side door and ended up at the ticketing counter. Oops. Anyways I hurried out of there before I was caught. I’m not a fan of museums.

Walked back to the front of the street and there I saw it, the Theee Kings Monument. It was the SAME statue I saw, just that cause it was side-view, the middle king was blocked. Lame.

The Three Kings Monument - King Mengrai, King Ramkamhaeng, King Ngam Muang. Sorry, don't know much behind the history of it. Please google for more accurate information.

Back to the hostel to rest cause it was so hot. Booked another night for 15th and bought the minivan ticket to Pai. Whoop whoop!

Hung around the hostel after eating my tea time snack of 2 sandwiches and off for… SUNDAY NIGHT WALKING STREET MARKET!!!

This is the exact reason why I stayed another night in Chiang Mai. Can’t miss it another time!

Before: Ratchadamnoen Road in the afternoon while the road is still live.

After: Road is closed and most stalls have been set in place. Market is ready for business!

So, cause I know I’m not there to buy anything, I only stared at food and people-watched. Bought the famous Thailand coconut ice cream! Walked on and on and on and on.

Famous Thai coconut ice-cream topped with a cherry wna-be, cornflakes, coconut flesh, and green glutinous rice at the bottom. Only 30baht!

You'll see lots of interesting acts along the way - many are at the Saturday and Sunday Markets. This one is a group of blind men singing and playing instruments. Makes me wonder what I'm doing with my life.

Interesting sights to see. I've never heard of a gac fruit before.

Rewarded myself with a grass jelly coffee drink after. I was on a hunt for the tourist SIM card. Went to FIVE 7-11s before I finally found one who sold it.

Lots of drinks stalls like these are around. I think if you randomly pick a stall, they'd all pretty much taste the same.
No, he did not sell me the SIM card. Gimme my iced coffee grass jelly! Lots of drinks stalls like these are around. I think if you randomly pick a stall, they’d all pretty much taste the same.

But genius me left my passport in the hostel so I had to walk back to get it. No complaints. Only meant I have more time to kill.

There’s that. My legs are pretty tired. I walked from 5.30pm to about 9.30pm and rested for only around 10 minutes. I’m going to have a good night’s sleep.

Can’t wait for tomorrow!!! Better wake up in time.
