A Taste of the Upper Class: Staying in Palm Jumeirah 🇦🇪

Disclaimer: All Dubai posts are based on travels back in March 2020. As the world continues to battle COVID-19, please, let’s all do our part by upholding personal hygiene standards, practicing social distancing, wearing masks, avoiding unnecessary travels and most importantly, staying healthy and well.

Known as the island for the rich, what better way to end the trip than living it up amongst the upper class for (sadly) one night? We stayed at a 5-star beach side hotel resort with views to die for. There were so many hotels to pick from in Palm Jumeirah and I’m glad I settled on Royal Central Hotel – The Palm. You’ll see why.

Behold, the beauty that is Royal Central Hotel – The Palm! Well, the backside of it rather.

Booked the Premium Room Palm View for about SGD330/night. Had to go big or go home and splurge on the view.

I mean look at this!! STUNNING!

The hotel was so far in that we were practically stranded. Thankfully the hotel had complimentary shuttle service too to places within Palm Jumeirah. We chose to have buffet lunch in the hotel to save us the hassle. I wanted to spend all my time in luxury!!

Complimentary shuttle service.

Front of the hotel; took a walk to explore and digest lunch.

Back to the hotel we went after a short stroll. We were surrounded by hotels and… nothing (if that makes sense). Enough of walking anyways. I wanted to and hit the sea and pool and be kissed by harmful sun rays!

Best part of the stay? Our room was the PERFECT spot to catch the setting sun.

Tell me, is this not a beauty?! Couldn’t ask for a more perfect backdrop with the Atlantis, The Palm in sight.

SGD330 extremely well spent.

After all that hubbub and gushing over the sunset, it was dinner time.

In-room dining for the rich, please. Also of all things to get, my mum ordered briyani… 🙄

Cup noodles for the poor, please (me). We were watching Messiah which is such a good show but they cancelled season two?!?!

Day 2 of Luxury / Last Day in Dubai

One last tan before heading out for lunch.

Headed back to the hotel and with a heavy heart, we departed for the airport.

Received this travel advisory on the flight back. Funny thing is that it’s outdated — you can see it says last updated in 2015. Also, it’s for the wrong influenza.

So, that’s it. The last of my international travels for who-knows-how-long. I’m not complaining though. I’d rather be well, alive and kicking. On 16 March 2020, all travellers entering Singapore from ASEAN countries, Japan, Switzerland or United Kingdom had to undergo a mandatory 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN) to curb the spread of COVID-19. We arrived home on 13 March 2020 and avoided the implemented SHN but I still did my own home quarantine to be on the safe side.

My next adventures will all be Singapore-centric so as always, till then!
