Not all who wander want to be found 🍂

Back to the Second Home – Chiang Mai 🇹🇭

So it’s the end of my journey in Chiang Rai – 5D4N. I’ll be back again next time, with friends, to go trekking and see the sights. I… will be back when it’s winter.

Grabbed a couple of the 7-11 sandwiches to tide me through the journey back to Chiang Mai. Was pleasantly surprised when I saw the bus; didn’t expect it to be the same bus as the VIP one just that the seats aren’t modified. I thought it’d be like the smaller public buses.

Left the terminal at 11.33am and reached Chiang Mai at almost 3+pm? Song taew driver didn’t get where I wanted to go so I had him drop me at Tha Pae Gate, which was easier.

So apparently there’re a few changes to the At Baan Khun Hostel – air-conditioning now switches on from 4pm – 7pm and 9pm – 11am. In-ter-est-ing. It was so hot! I couldn’t take staying in the hostel or anywhere else so I used Triposo to find somewhere to eat. I was STARVING. I only had chocolate crackers that was provided for on the bus.

Walked over to Dada Kafe. They had a tad lot of reviews online so I decided to check it out. Food was a bit on the higher end so I settled for an 80baht fried rice instead. Sat there for an hour odd and decided to walk and find Wat Chedi Luang.

Dada Kafe - lots of great reviews online.
Dada Kafe – read that their smoothies are pretty good but I didn’t have one.
Dada fried rice - fried brown rice with egg, brocolli, pineapple, frozen veggie mix (carrots, peas, corns).

So glad I decided to walk because I found a night market! It was pretty small so I walked up and down twice just to kill time.

Cool drinks in bamboo cups. Literally, cool.

Upsize version of the small sweet 'pancake' things. Can't imagine how crazy sweet they can be!

There was this temple-market and I just decided to plop myself down on the seats to enjoy the scenery and just… relax. After awhile I caved and bought myself a mango sticky rice. & as I ate it I realised why I don’t have it as often anymore – too much sticky rice makes me a li’l sick. I only enjoy the mango.

Headed to the Night Bazaar to kill time and try to find a cheap pair of pants for the elephant camp. This lady was selling the one I wanted for 150baht. Tried to bargain it down to 100baht but she didn’t budge at all. OH WELL! Fated to not have it.

I think my brain is about to explode from the nonsense that I’m eavesdropping on. I need to be up early to catch my minivan ride tomorrow.

Can’t wait!

Expenses:
50 – 2 sandwiches
60 – song taew ride
80 – dada fried rice
20 – lemongrass drink
50 – mango sticky rice
37 – 1l, 1.5l water, dewberry biscuits
Total: 297baht (~12.20SGD)

Will always remember coming to this cafe in 2013, when I started travelling on my own. Eating a meal alone was still foreign.
Will always remember coming to this cafe in 2013, when I started travelling on my own. Eating a meal alone was still foreign to me. I was forced to hang out somewhere on my own cause I checked out of the residence and my flight to Hong Kong was at night.

Must not forget to set alarm for tomorrow.
