Decided to be less of a bum today, last day here anyway!
Left the hostel around 11+am, but not before devouring my remaining yoghurt and a granola bar. Was going to walk 1.3km to check out the temple – Wat Phra Kaew. My mind was pretty dead set on having two 7-11 sandwiches. After all, it was on the way to the temple.
But as I walked past the food street, I saw a local coffeeshop and decided to have breakfast. Be more adventurous, right? Actually the only reason I chose it was cause their menu-banner had english words.
Chiang Mai is pretty famous for their khao soi. I intend to try it at the Night Bazaar tomorrow but I had it today so I can do some comparisons.

Arrived at Wat Phra Kaew pretty quick. Was hesitant about entering the temple because I was wearing shorts and I know it’s disrespectful to be not properly clothed. I swear I wanted to bring my long pants out but I forgot. Paid some respect and a small donation amount (sorry I was wearing shorts).

Wat Phra Kaew used to house the Emerald Buddha for 45 years. It’s a pity it’s not there anymore. I would have loved to see it. It’s now in Bangkok. Maybe one day I’ll go visit it.
Made a plan to reward myself with iced coffee at Doi Chaang Cafe near the Clock Tower. Decided against the liquid calories and went for a spinach lasagna even though I ate an hour ago. I couldn’t help it. Food is my weakness.

Eventually left the cafe after being restless and found cheap postcards! 6baht each; that’s more like it. & back to the hostel I went to kill time.

Managed to do a bit of the Power Yoga sequence I remembered. Didn’t do much but I felt great after the stretching and bone-cracking. Surprisingly I haven’t gone for any massage yet (I’m on a budget hahaha).
Don’t know why I’ve been so hungry today despite not doing anything much. Was contemplating over having 60baht pad thai or 70baht hot pot. Went with the hot pot eventually; more nutrition and value for money!
On to the Night Bazaar and ordered from the same lady. I told her ‘no spicy’ but she still gave me spicy. ): The only reason I didn’t want spicy was cause I have a three hour bus ride tomorrow. I don’t want my stomach feeling funny or anything like that.

The satisfying meal left me craving for a really cold drink. Walked past this girl having a watermelon ice-cream (like the coconut ice-cream, except it’s in a watermelon) and I thought “I MUST FIND IT!” & I FOUND IT!!! I was elated!

I have never seen anything other than the famous coconut ice-cream. It was so amusing to me!
I walked around the Night Bazaar, parading with my melon ice-cream in hand and a look of joy and satisfaction on my face. It was a nice end to my night. I’d only wish I would have been more observant and not so conscious about the calories.
Everyone needs a li’l ice-cream in their life once in awhile!

Expenses:
35 – chicken khao soi
20 – donation
75 – veet’s
120 – spinach lasagna
44 – postcards and stamps

Damn. I spent a lot today. My stomach is feeling it from the spicy soup already.
