Not all who wander want to be found 🍂

Day 2 in Chiang Mai, Thailand 🇹🇭

Date: 8 May 2015, Friday

Left the hostel around 10.40am to grab some breakfast. I was STARVING cause I skipped dinner last night.

Extended the stay by one night, walked to 7-11 and bought 2 of my favorite sandwiches and another bottle of 1l water to pop my Redoxon. Absolutely can’t afford to fall sick.

Cheap and delicious sandwiches. I always have the shredded floss and salad cream, and the sausage and cheese.

Back to the hostel and saw the common area was kinda empty so I sat there with a couple others and tried reading. Couldn’t understand the book so I stopped; surfed Imgur instead.

Sat from 11+am to almost 4pm and decided to take a good walk to Chiang Mai Bus Terminal 3 to buy the ticket to Chiang Rai. I started walking at 3.59pm after buying more water.

Google maps told me it was a 38min walk, and with the help of my handy hardcopy map, I made it there in about 40mins! Slipped along the way and grazed my calf but no biggie. Almost got lost cause the walk was getting kind of long but all was well.

Found the bridge I was supposed to cross.

Saw the street sign and was assured I was on the right track. Yay, me!

Went to the green counter in Terminal 2 and stalked the lady at the ticket counter as she left her booth and asked her if she sold tickets.

She kindly pointed me to Terminal 3 to purchase them. Felt happy when I reached the terminal and felt relieved cause I was facing the same image I googled online. I knew I was at the right place.

Had to get a queue number first and was my number was called less than 30 seconds later. Buying a ticket was so easy. Lady spoke English and made sure I checked that details were correct.

Bought the VIP ticket for 10.15am and checked out the bus point I was supposed to wait at. & then the 40min walk began again at 4.56pm. I walked a total of 6.4km!

Back to 7-11 again to buy two more bottles of 1.5l and went back to the hostel. New faces again. Sat around in the air-conditioned room and headed out at 6++pm.

Revisiting memories!

Walked to Chiang Mai Night Bazaar and zoomed to Anusarn Market to have dinner. Contemplated getting mango sticky rice but my body deserved more than that.

Went to the food stalls and ordered a Tom Yum Pork Noodles. Small portion, but it was good! Wandered around the stalls a little bit, went to the Night Bazaar and bought papaya. I really need my vitamins and I need to be kept healthy.

Tom yum pork noodles for 40baht. The portion was a bit too small for me but it was fine.

At Anusarn Night Market. Sorry for bad quality; phone's not the best.

Spent a couple of hours walking aimlessly and mindlessly; just trying to kill time.

So here I am. OH YES. Can’t believe I forgot to mention this. Spent about 60bucks to sign up for WWOOFING Thailand membership.

Emailed Thom’s Elephant camp today and they replied me! (!!!) Gave a description of the jobs and I’m pretty psyched about it! Hopefully I’ll be able to go on the 16th-29th. & then I have 6 days to get out of Thailand before I get to deported. Most likely I’ll head to Luang Prabang.

Need to manage my finances now.

Expenses:
62 – 1l water, 2 sandwiches
39 – 1l water, 1 sandwich
280 – Chiang Rai bus ticket
26 – 1.5l water x 2
40 – tom yum pork noodles
40 – papaya
Total: 487baht (~20SGD)

Why does my noodles cost the same as the papaya?!

I have quite a few mosquito bites. Luckily they’re not extremely itchy.

Toodles. Time to watch movie. Can’t wait to explore the Saturday Night Market.
